Edmonton Mud Friday afternoon we were checking the weather in Edmonton and considering whether or not do the 6 hour drive at all. It looked like the course was barely rideable. But then we thought about all the hard work and enthusiasm put in into these races by our friends in Edmonton. Mud is a part of the MTB racing package,[...] Wow. Where do I start? I have to start with the race organization. We had a bunch of world cup level athletes this weekend in Canmore,putting on world class level performance…their effort is well documented and you can look at the results at Zone4. These riders are amazing and inspirational. But you will [...] I had mixed feelings about this race as many of my friends refused to sign up due to it’s high cost and the fact that it is another “lap race” in the Nordic Center. For those who say it is too expensive I have to agree. The Trans Rockies guys know how to organize very [...] One of Those races… I was standing at the Iron Maiden XC start line along with familiar faces. I did not feel healthy and definitely didn’t feel strong,but the first 30 minutes of the race was one of my worst starts ever. At 500m into the race I felt like my legs are just [...] The 2011 single-speed solo trophies got the same new home. First I have to thank the Deadgoats for the excellent race. Not only they managed to end the Calgary monsoon,but they must have spent all night at the COP course drying the sweet single-track with hairdryers and heat-guns. That is the only way the course could have dried [...] Stan's Raven 29 tire Good first XC races in Edmonton this weekend. Thanks goes to Hardcore bikes for doing a great job organizing the race. A 5 minute TT on Saturday morning,a 30 minute dirt crit in the afternoon and the main XC race on Sunday. It was a busy week. Cleaned the the trailer,short circuited (ans smoked) its power converter, visited beautiful Ft McMurray for work, sold our house,sent the in-laws home and got a flat on the way to work on Friday. Packed up the kids and the camping stuff too [...] We already had 2 inches of snow in the backyard on Saturday morning and the forecast looked pretty bad for Sunday too. Looked like it will be cold and rainy for the entire race. In preparation for the mud I decided to put on my CX tires,and Bogi was prepping for the first ever [...] I don’t usually do that,but I won the Trans Stoney Marathon today.
